The incredible shrinking czuk and the not so hotsy totsy day

I'm really bummed. I spent the day reading the The Forgiven. I thought it was the last book in a trilogy and now know I need to read another book, not yet out, to get to the end of this story.  Curse you Jana Oliver! Plus, I'm sick at home with a sinus infection and feel lousy. Is there no justice in the world?

Insult to injury -- at the doctor's office, when checking my vitals, they measured my height (as the nurse said, I was barefoot and on the scale, so why not?) I'm now officially an inch shorter.  It's not like I had a lot of height to spare, so losing so much is not making me happy. Thumbiczuka.  Feh. (Picture taken a few weeks ago with the Best Beast I know, back when I thought I was tall.)

(Review to follow when I get over my disappointment and feel better.)

  1. Oh poor you! I've got all this to come. There's always heels? :)

  2. Did I tell you the last time I went to the doc, they said I was an inch & a half shorter, too? My problem is I don't know when I lost it - no one's measured my height since ... college?

  3. @Margeryk -- in heels, I'd not only be short, but uncomfortable as well. @Margie, it's clear to me that our missing 1.5 inches are out there somewhere having a lot of fun. (and yes, it was really 1.5 inches I lost, not an inch, but given how vertically challenged I am, I didn't think anyone would believe me) Mind you, if it had been 1.5 inches from my waist or "shelf", I'd be doing a jig in happiness. There is no justice in this world.

  4. One and a half inches! That's a lot! Do you have brittle bones? Have you been checked for osteoporosis? I get checked every few years, and so far so good. They don't measure me, though. Maybe I should ask.

I hope you get to feeling better from your sinus infection soon.

  5. I don't really want to go into my medical history in a public forum. I've been under a doctor's care, which address all the questions above, and the relation to other health issues I have, since the 90's.

    1. Sorry, didn't mean to pry. Those were just things I happened to think of. My apologies.

  7. Thanks FancyHorse - no worries. I'm just grumpy because I don't feel well. And moem? If you bring them to me, I'll try 'em!

  8. I got a bit taller, like 1cm (which matters to us!) when I was doing a lot of pilates stuff. It's gone away again now, though!
